Rolling blackouts have been implemented in occupied Crimea

In occupied Crimea, rolling blackouts have begun due to power grid failures. Some towns and villages are without power for several hours, and in some places, pumping stations and street lighting have stopped working. Restrictions have already been implemented in various regions of the peninsula and in Sevastopol.

In Russian-occupied Crimea, the electricity supply situation has deteriorated sharply, forcing the local power company to implement rolling blackouts. The cause is attributed to power grid failures, which have led to system instability.

This is reported by local sources, including the “Crimea.Realities” project, citing the company “Krymenergo.” On Sunday, June 21, settlements in the northwestern, central, and southern parts of the peninsula were left without electricity. The power outages also partially disrupted the water supply, as pumping stations were shut down. Similar problems were reported in Sevastopol.

The very next day, June 22, a number of cities and districts began officially publishing schedules for rolling blackouts. Specifically, these include Alushta, Dzhankoy, as well as the Nizhnegorsk, Black Sea, and Krasnoperekopsk districts.

According to local sources, in the Black Sea District, electricity is scheduled to be supplied in a cycle of three hours with power and three hours without. “Due to the difficult situation in the power grid of Crimea and Sevastopol, rolling blackouts are in effect in our district according to the following schedule: 3 hours without power, 3 hours with power,” said Andrei Shatyrenko, the Russian deputy head of the Black Sea District.

In the Krasnoperekopsk District, a more complex schedule has been implemented: power is completely cut off at certain times of the day, particularly at night and in the morning. A similar system is in effect in Alushta.

In Sudak, residents were informed of outages lasting up to three hours a day, though the exact times when power will be restored have not been specified. Additionally, a number of towns have decided to temporarily turn off street lighting to reduce the load on the power grid.

At the same time, reports of damage to energy infrastructure are appearing on social media. In particular, photos of the Tavriya Thermal Power Plant near Simferopol showing the aftermath of a fire have been published. Russian authorities have not provided official confirmation of the cause of the incident, nor have Ukrainian military officials commented on possible attacks on energy facilities.

The power supply situation on the peninsula remains unstable, and according to local administrations, power outage schedules may change depending on the load on the grid and further emergencies. This was reported by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s Crimea.Realities project, citing the company “Krymenergo.”

The occupying authorities in Crimea have announced a series of restrictions amid power outages and fuel shortages. In particular, fuel sales on the peninsula will be suspended in the coming days, and public transportation will operate on special schedules. Ferries will also be out of service.

On the night of June 20, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a number of Russian military targets. Among the targets was a bridge near Henichesk, which the occupiers use to transport equipment and resupply their troops between occupied Crimea and the southern front.

In Taganrog, Russia, a power substation that supplied electricity to the “Atlant-Aero” defense enterprise was damaged. As a result, production lines involved in the manufacture of drones were disrupted.

In the temporarily occupied Crimea, fires broke out at a number of energy and infrastructure facilities following a nighttime attack. In particular, fires were reported at the Tavriya Thermal Power Plant and gas facilities in various regions of the peninsula.
