Ukraine to establish a new air defense line following an attack on its western regions

Ukraine to establish a new air defense line following an attack on its western regions

Ukraine has begun developing an additional layer of air defense to prevent Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure in the western region.

According to a March 25 statement from the Ministry of Defense, this decision was made as the enemy shifted the focus of its strikes following the successful defense of major cities. The new strategy is based on a systematic approach that combines Air Force units, interceptor drones, mobile fire groups, and aviation to create a security system unprecedented by global standards.

The creation of the new line of defense was preceded by the repulsion of the largest daytime attack since the start of the full-scale war, which took place on March 24. Defense forces destroyed over 94% of targets, despite the enemy deploying a record number of weapons, including 999 Shahed-type drones in a single day. In the Kyiv region alone, approximately 250 drones were neutralized, while not a single hit was recorded over the capital. The effectiveness of Ukraine’s air defense is forcing Russia to seek new targets, making the protection of western regions a priority for the defense ministry.

On March 24, Russian occupiers launched a massive attack on western regions of Ukraine using kamikaze drones. In Lviv, one of the drones struck a building in the city center, causing a fire.

This attack was part of a large-scale Russian air offensive that on March 24 swept across several regions of Ukraine, including critical infrastructure facilities in the rear regions.
