Since the start of the day, Russian troops have attacked the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces 60 times. The highest level of activity by the occupiers was recorded in the Pokrovsk and Sloviansk sectors.
Russian forces continue to shell the Ukrainian border region with artillery. Today, the following areas have already come under enemy fire: Tovstodubove, Neskuchne, Hirky, Ryzhivka, Volfyne, Pustogorod, Bunyakine, Sukhodil, Ulanove, Chuykivka, Khodine, Bachivsk, Iskriskivshchyna, Korenok, and Luzhky in Sumy Oblast, as well as Klyusi, Dibrova, and Bohdanove in Chernihiv Oblast.
In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk directions, the Russians dropped six guided aerial bombs and shelled populated areas and the positions of Ukraine’s defenders 25 times. In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, the enemy made seven attempts to break through the defenses toward Hoptivka, in the areas of Lyman, Starytsia, and Prylipka. One combat engagement is still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk sector, the invaders have not yet carried out any offensive operations today. In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian forces repelled six attempts by the Russian army to advance in the areas of Novomykhailivka and Drobysheve, toward Shyikivka, Lyman, and Ozerny. Three attacks are still ongoing.
In the Sloviansk sector, defenders repelled 14 enemy attacks in the areas of Zakitne, Kryva Luka, and Riznykivka, toward Piskunivka and Rai-Oleksandrivka. One engagement is still ongoing. In the Kramatorsk sector, Russian forces launched a single attack in the area of Nikiforivka. In the Kostiantynivka sector, defenders repelled seven Russian attacks in the areas of Kostiantynivka, Illinivka, and Ivanopil. One engagement is still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk sector, since the start of the day, the enemy has attempted 15 times to dislodge the Defense Forces from their positions in the areas of Toretsk, Udachne, and Filiya, toward Kucherevy Yar, Novy Donbas, Bilytske, Svitly, Shevchenko, and Novopidhorodne. On the Oleksandrivka sector, Russian forces have not yet launched any offensive operations today.
In the Huliaipole sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled seven enemy attacks in the Zaliznychne area, toward Dobropillia, Tsvitkove, and Vozdvyzhivka. On the Orikhiv sector, Russian forces launched a single assault on Ukrainian defensive positions near Shcherbakiv. On the Dnipro sector, the enemy has not yet launched any offensive operations today.
In other sectors of the front, the situation remains largely unchanged. The Russian army has not attempted any advances.

On the night of July 19, Russian troops launched a ballistic missile strike on Kyiv. One person was killed and eight others were wounded as a result of the attack. Damage and fires were reported in five districts of the capital.
Throughout the day on July 17, Russian forces struck Kharkiv and 29 other settlements in the Kharkiv region. Two people were killed and 18 others were wounded in the shelling; among the casualties were five children.
Throughout the day on July 17, the Chernihiv region came under attack from enemy drones. Fires broke out in several districts at once, but Ukrainian rescue workers have already extinguished them.
