Ukrainian defense forces struck an oil refinery in the Yaroslavl Region of the Russian Federation, located approximately 1,000 kilometers from the front line. In addition, the Ukrainian military struck Russian targets in the Black Sea, and members of the SBU’s “Alfa” unit in Engels struck a Tu-95MS missile carrier.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on August 28. According to him, the Ukrainian strikes are a response to Russian aggression and attacks on Ukraine.

Zelenskyy specifically highlighted the operation carried out by fighters from the SBU’s “A” Special Operations Center in Engels, Russia. According to the president, a Tu-95MS strategic bomber—which Russia uses to launch missile strikes on Ukrainian territory—was struck there.

The president thanked Ukrainian servicemen for their accuracy and emphasized that Russia must feel the consequences of the war it has unleashed.

On the evening of August 27, Russian troops attacked the town of Zmiiv in the Chuhuiv District of Kharkiv Oblast twice with rocket-powered drones. One person was killed and two others were wounded in the Russian attack, including a child.

On the night of August 28, Russian troops launched a strike with four KAB missiles against the “Nova Poshta” sorting center in Sumy. The terminal was destroyed in the attack, but all employees survived.

Prior to this, Russia had attacked a Nova Poshta warehouse in the Kyiv region.

As a reminder, Russia carried out more than 860 strikes on Zaporizhzhia over the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the Russian oil refinery “Orsknefteorgsintez” halted oil processing following an attack by Ukrainian drones on August 11.
