The Volgograd Oil Refinery in Russia has suspended operations
On Thursday, May 28, and overnight into May 29, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched large-scale strikes against the Volgograd Oil Refinery, completely halting production at this giant of the Russian oil refining industry.
This was officially reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This attack dealt a serious blow to the military logistics of the Russian occupation forces, as the facility supplied fuel to the aggressor country’s army.
Key technological facilities at the plant were hit by Ukrainian drones, resulting in a massive fire breaking out on the plant’s grounds.
The fire and explosions damaged the AVT-1, AVT-3, AVT-5, and AVT-6 primary oil refining units, as well as the complex of secondary oil refining units.
Due to significant damage to critical infrastructure, the Volgograd Oil Refinery has completely halted all its production processes.
The General Staff emphasizes that the Volgograd Oil Refinery is part of Lukoil and is one of the largest oil refining enterprises in the south of the aggressor country.
Its refining capacity is approximately 14 million tons of oil per year. The facility produces gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, and other petroleum products, specifically to support military logistics and the needs of the enemy army.
Shutting down such a powerful facility would significantly disrupt fuel supplies to the occupying forces.
