Seven more children have been returned from the occupied Kherson region
Seven more children have been successfully returned to territory controlled by Ukraine from the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region. They include four girls and three boys aged 10 to 17. Since the beginning of 2026, 124 children have been returned from the occupied part of the Kherson region.
Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, announced the children’s return. According to him, seven children—four girls and three boys—were successfully returned this time. They are between the ages of 10 and 17. The children are now safe and undergoing reintegration at the “Hope and Recovery” centers. There, they receive the necessary assistance following their time under occupation.
In particular, the children are receiving psychological support, help in restoring their documents, and a safe haven. Prokudin emphasized that for these boys and girls, the occupation is now behind them. At the same time, he said, hundreds of Ukrainian children still remain in the temporarily occupied territories and face Russian pressure on a daily basis. “The occupying authorities continue to exert pressure, attempting to destroy their Ukrainian identity,” noted the head of the Kherson Regional State Administration.
How many children have already been returned
In total, since the beginning of 2026, 124 children have been returned from the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region to territory controlled by Ukraine. The children’s return is taking place as part of the presidential initiative “Bring Kids Back UA.” This time, the charity “Save Ukraine” assisted in organizing the return.
Upon their return, the children undergo the necessary adaptation procedures and receive assistance to restore their documents, recover psychologically from their ordeal, and return to a safe life in Ukraine. As a result of a nighttime attack by Russian troops on the Kyiv region on August 5, 2026, 14 people were killed, and another 27 civilians were wounded. Rescue workers continue to deal with the aftermath of the strikes and extinguish fires in several districts of the region.
Over the past 24 hours, on August 4, Russian troops attacked the Zaporizhzhia region 1,052 times, striking 50 settlements in the region. Two people were injured as a result of shelling in Zaporizhzhia and the Zaporizhzhia district.
