Zelenskyy said the Russian Federation had suffered more than 10,600 casualties in one week
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that over the past week, the Ukrainian military has neutralized 10,660 Russian soldiers, including those killed and wounded. According to him, the heaviest fighting is taking place in the Pokrovsk, Kostiantynivka, and Lyman sectors. Ukrainian units are also carrying out missions in the Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported significant losses among Russian troops over the past week. According to him, Ukrainian units have neutralized 10,660 Russian soldiers—killed or wounded—across all areas of active combat. According to Zelenskyy, Ukrainian forces have achieved results on several fronts simultaneously. In particular, he highlighted the actions of the Defense Forces in the Lyman sector as part of Operation “Vivaldi,” as well as the work of Airborne Assault Troops units as part of another active defense operation.
“Our troops have achieved significant results in the Lyman sector in the Donetsk region as part of Operation ‘Vivaldi’ and the Airborne Assault Forces group as part of yet another of our active defense operations,” Zelenskyy wrote. He noted that the Ukrainian military continues to eliminate Russian units and is carrying out its assigned tasks. “In total, over the past week, across all active combat zones on the front lines, our units have neutralized 10,660 Russian soldiers, including those killed and wounded,” the president stated. According to Zelenskyy, video evidence exists for each of these losses suffered by the Russian army.
Where the Heaviest Fighting Is Taking Place
The president specifically named several sectors where combat operations are currently at their most intense. These are the Pokrovsk, Kostiantynivka, and Lyman sectors. According to the General Staff, 205 combat engagements were recorded on the front lines the previous day, September 25. Most of the Russian attacks at that time occurred in the Kostiantynivka and Pokrovsk sectors—21 in each. In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian forces repelled three attacks.
Zelenskyy also reported on combat operations carried out in the Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions. The president specifically thanked the military units that, in his words, achieved particularly significant results this week.
Among them, he named the soldiers of the 3rd Army Corps, as well as the 68th Separate Airborne Brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush of the 8th Corps of the Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. “Thank you all for your achievements, soldiers! Every week like this on the front lines—which, given the overall situation, is becoming ours, Ukrainian in character—prevents Russia from launching a larger offensive against Ukraine,” Zelenskyy wrote.
At the same time, the figure of 10,660 military personnel is an estimate provided by the Ukrainian side. The president’s statement does not break down this number into separate categories for those killed and those wounded. Zelenskyy added that during a meeting with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they also outlined further active steps to be taken by Ukrainian troops on the front lines. The head of state announced this following a briefing by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Mykhailo Drapatyi.
