Defense forces damaged five workshops at a military factory in Russia

As a result of an attack by the Ukrainian Defense Forces on the Azov Optical-Mechanical Plant in the Rostov Region of the Russian Federation on the night of September 26, at least five of the plant’s workshops—which are used to manufacture weapons components—were damaged. This is evidenced by published satellite images showing the aftermath of the strike.

According to analysts, the following facilities at the defense plant were damaged:

• Foundry Shop No. 022, where a fire was reported and two buildings sustained significant damage;
• Optics Manufacturing Shop No. 008, which was struck twice;
• Assembly Shop No. 009, which sustained at least three strikes;
• Electroplating Shop No. 010, where one strike was recorded;
• the Machining Shop, where the roof collapsed due to two strikes, as well as the adjacent Frame-Stamping Shop.

On the night of September 26, Ukrainian defense forces struck a number of key facilities on Russian territory that support the Russian military machine. Among them were the Azov Optical-Mechanical Plant in the Rostov Region and the “Ilsky” oil refinery in the Krasnodar Territory.

As a reminder, the Perm Oil Refinery in Russia ceased operations following an attack by Ukrainian drones on September 25. According to Reuters, a fire broke out at the facility, and pipelines, storage tanks, and processing units were damaged. It is not yet known when the refinery will be able to resume operations.
