The Armed Forces of Ukraine have stepped up their counteroffensive operations in the south — Defense Forces

Russian forces have intensified their ground assaults, airstrikes, and drone attacks in the southern sector, but Ukrainian defenders are actively counterattacking to retake lost territory.

Vladislav Voloshin, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, provided an update on the current situation in the combat zone during a televised marathon.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces are not only holding back the invaders’ advance but are also conducting effective operations to neutralize enemy sabotage groups.

Tensions remain consistently high on the southern sector of the front due to constant fire from the Russian army.

The occupiers are relying on combined strikes, combining infantry assaults with the massive use of modern weapons.

Both the forward positions of the Ukrainian military and civilian settlements near the front line are under attack.

“The situation in the south has not changed significantly or drastically. Enemy assaults continue, and the enemy is actively using aviation. In addition, there has been a fairly large number of kamikaze drone strikes on our positions and on settlements located near the line of contact,” noted Vladyslav Voloshyn.

In parallel with frontal attacks, Russian troops are attempting to operate covertly, deploying professionally trained sabotage units. Enemy reconnaissance units aim to bypass Ukrainian strongholds and penetrate behind the defensive lines.

However, Ukrainian intelligence and support units detect such attempts in a timely manner and respond promptly to threats.

According to the spokesperson, the enemy is attempting to break through deep into Ukrainian defenses and is carrying out various sabotage operations. Ukrainian defenders have established a reliable monitoring system for the gray zone and adjacent territories.

“Sabotage groups are trying to penetrate deep into our defenses, but we are eliminating them. We are conducting fairly active reconnaissance-search and search-and-strike operations, destroying such groups,” Voloshin added.

Since 2022, Russian occupiers have lost 1.35 million soldiers on the front lines
