The Ukrainian Armed Forces have debunked a Russian disinformation claim about an advance toward Bilyi Kolodyaz in the Kharkiv region
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have refuted reports from the Russian side regarding the alleged advance of Russian troops toward the village of Bilyi Kolodyaz in the Kharkiv region.
According to the Ukrainian military, the occupying forces are at least 10 kilometers away from this settlement in the South Slobozhansky direction, so claims of their advance are untrue.
According to Viktor Tregubov, a spokesperson for the Joint Forces Operation, the only relatively new Russian military incursion in the Southern Slobozhansky direction has been detected east of Vovchanski Khutory.
“This is the so-called direction toward Bilyi Kolodyaz. The irony is that this isn’t even an attempt to reach Bilyi Kolodyaz itself, because the Russians have simply advanced a few kilometers into that area,” Tregubov said.
At the same time, he emphasized that reports from the Russian side about an alleged advance toward Bilyi Kolodyazh do not correspond to reality.
“All Russian reports contain completely absurd claims regarding their advance specifically in the South Slobozhansky direction… To that very Bilyi Kolodyazh, which they supposedly have already reached and captured—it’s still at least 10 kilometers away,” the spokesperson noted.
According to him, the Ukrainian military is also analyzing these reports. He added that the Russian side has repeatedly spread similar disinformation regarding other settlements.
“We read these Russian reports ourselves… and see that this is some kind of operation to mislead their own leadership,” Tregubov said.
He added that Russian units are currently east of Vovchanski Khutory and are trying to advance in small groups, “but so far, this has led nowhere.”
“To be honest, I don’t know why they’re heading in that direction. The only possibility is that this might indeed be an attempt to bypass Vovchanski Khutory, which they cannot capture—an attempt to bypass it from the east. Breaking through to Bilyi Kolodyaz as of now is closer to science fiction. Most likely, this is related to some local Russian objectives set by a specific commander or general who is trying to curry favor in this way,” he noted.
As is known, Bilyi Kolodyaz is a village in the Chuhuiv District of Kharkiv Oblast and is part of the Vovchansk City Community. The settlement is located approximately 14 km from Vovchansk.
This was stated on television by Viktor Tregubov, a spokesperson for the Joint Forces Operation, according to Ukrinform.
