The Chornomorets Stadium in Odesa came under fire from Russia

On August 7, Russian troops launched an attack on Odesa, resulting in damage to the stadium of the “Chornomorets” soccer club. Information regarding the extent of the damage and possible casualties is currently being verified.

 

This is stated in a statement by Serhiy Lysak, head of the Odesa City Military Administration, and a post by Oleg Kipper, head of the Odesa Regional State Administration (OVA).

“The enemy attacked Odesa. Sports infrastructure was damaged. Preliminary reports indicate there are casualties,” his statement reads.

Lysak added that all details of the enemy shelling are currently being investigated.

Kiper confirmed that the “Chornomorets” soccer stadium in the city center was damaged as a result of the strike.

“The roof, windows, and stands were damaged. According to preliminary information, unfortunately, one person was injured,” he said.

Local Telegram channels report that the stadium sustained damage, including shattered windows, and that grass is burning nearby. One person is reported to have been injured as a result of the shelling.

As a reminder, the Ministry of Energy is changing the rules for compiling the list of critical infrastructure.

Russia is planning new attacks on Ukraine’s power grid and water supply facilities ahead of the heating season. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that the enemy intends to wear down Ukrainian society by striking critical infrastructure.

Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi stated that Ukraine’s energy sector faces an unmet need of approximately 650 million euros ahead of the heating season.
