The Ukrainian Armed Forces used an amphibious robot for the first time to deliver supplies to the front lines

The Ukrainian military carried out its first logistics mission using an amphibious ground-based robotic system. The robot traveled more than 40 km over land and water, after which it delivered the necessary supplies directly to the front lines.

One of the first such missions was carried out by soldiers from a separate mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. They used a Ukrainian-developed amphibious ground robotic system.

During the mission, the robotic complex traveled over 40 km. The route ran both over land and through water. The complex delivered provisions and ammunition to the front lines.

How Does an Amphibious Robot Differ from a Conventional Unmanned Ground Vehicle?

Water obstacles remain one of the challenges for military logistics. Rivers, canals, and swampy areas can complicate the movement of a conventional ground robot or even make its route impossible.

An amphibious URC eliminates the need to switch vehicles when traversing such a route. On land, it moves like a conventional ground-based robotic system, and when necessary, it can enter the water and continue moving.

In other words, a single system can operate across varied terrain and overcome obstacles that would pose a problem for a conventional robotic system.

How the system was prepared for the mission

The amphibious RCS underwent several months of refinement in collaboration with the military prior to its first logistical mission.

The developers took into account the military’s actual needs, experience with robotic systems, and the specific features of frontline terrain.

Grant support for the system was provided by the Brave1 defense innovation cluster. Thanks to this, the development was brought to practical application.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and Brave1 continue to support the development of amphibious RCSs. In June 2026, a separate “Amphibious RCS” track was launched as part of Brave1’s updated grant program.

“We are expanding the capabilities of robotic systems so that the Ukrainian military has more technological tools to carry out combat missions,” the Ministry of Defense concluded.

Use of RCS on the Front Lines

As a reminder, the use of ground-based robotic systems is becoming an increasingly common practice on the front lines. The Ukrainian military employs robotic systems to strike enemy positions, logistics, and other targets.

This was reported with reference to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Ukraine is launching the “Army of Robots” project to develop technologies for warfare, according to Fedorov.

Fedorov returned to Kyiv and announced new projects.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he has not been in contact with former Minister Mykhailo Fedorov recently.
