The Ukrainian Armed Forces Are Already Using Domestic KABs Against the Occupiers – Fedorov
Ukrainian servicemen have begun the combat deployment of the first domestically produced guided aerial bombs (GABs) on the front lines. Currently, high-precision munitions from two different Ukrainian manufacturers are being used in actual combat against Russian invaders.
This was announced by Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov during his speech at the Brave1 Advantage conference.
According to the head of the Defense Ministry, a total of eight engineering teams are currently working on the design and development of various modifications of Ukrainian GABs. They are creating bombs in different weight classes, which differ in technical characteristics and operating principles. Fedorov emphasized that the process of refining the new weapons to achieve maximum effectiveness is still ongoing; however, statistics on hits against enemy equipment and positions during the testing phase already demonstrate high potential and are impressively positive.
The production of domestically manufactured aerial bombs is a key component of the overall strategy of the Brave1 defense cluster. To financially support innovation in this area, a special “80/20” funding allocation procedure has been implemented. Under this system, 20% of the total budget is specifically allocated to fund promising technological innovations, which subsequently undergo mandatory qualification tests at military training grounds. As a reminder, the defense ministry contracted the first experimental batch of domestically produced 250-kilogram guided munitions—whose development took 17 months—for the Ukrainian Air Force this past spring.
