ABC News introduced a 50/50 quiz featuring questions about movies, music, and sports

The Australian broadcaster ABC News has published a new 50/50-style quiz in which each question has two possible answers. Participants are invited to test their knowledge of 1970s cinema, the pronunciation of the word “fungi,” cocktails, sports, literature, music, and art.

According to the rules of the quiz, one of the two options in each question is correct, so the probability of guessing the answer correctly is 50%. However, this week the creators added one trick question: an incorrect answer to it will deduct one point from the total score.

The questions include one about a 1970s thriller featuring the famous “banjo duel” scene, the ingredients of the classic Sea Breeze cocktail, and the venue for one of the upcoming State of Origin rugby league matches. The quiz also includes challenges to identify a bird, a location in a photograph, and the correct order of Vincent van Gogh’s “Starry Night” and Katsushika Hokusai’s “The Great Wave off Kanagawa.”

Some questions focus on the 1998 Aerosmith song “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” and the book that won this year’s Miles Franklin Literary Award. The quiz consists of ten questions in total.
