Vilnius Airport closed again due to hybrid attack from Belarus
Vilnius Airport was closed on the evening of 3 December after balloons were detected coming from Belarus.
This was reported by LRT.lt with reference to the National Crisis Management Centre.
‘Due to a hybrid attack carried out by Belarus against Lithuania, civil aviation and the population, the airspace above Vilnius Airport was closed from 07:36 to 10:30 p.m. due to the detection of navigation objects characteristic of balloons in dangerous aviation zones,’ the statement said.
Passengers were asked to follow the information provided by the airport and flight operators.
The Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned a representative of the Belarusian embassy after a new wave of hybrid attacks was recorded, including provocations involving the use of weather balloons.
