APC declares readiness for 2027 elections — Premium Times Nigeria

Nigeria’s National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared the party ready for the 2027 general elections. Premium Times Nigeria reports that APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda made the statement at a press conference in Maiduguri following the committee’s three-day retreat.

Review of the party structure

According to Yilwatda, the committee reviewed the party’s structures at all levels — national, state, local government, ward and polling unit. Based on this assessment, the leadership considers the APC strong and ready for the 2027 elections.

The APC chairman also said the committee would intensify reconciliation within the party at the state, local government and ward levels to resolve internal differences. He called on wards in states that have not yet established reconciliation committees to do so in order to consolidate the party ahead of the elections.

Assessment of recent elections

According to the publication, the National Working Committee also expressed a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima and other candidates selected through the party’s primaries.

Yilwatda said the APC leadership was satisfied with the results of the recent off-cycle and by-elections. He mentioned Ogun and Delta states, where the party, according to him, won in the latest votes despite not having previously won elections there. According to the APC chairman’s assessment, the party won four of the five elections held the previous week and showed a strong result in the only race it lost.
