The United Kingdom has stated that the current sanctions against Russia remain in place and have not been lifted. This was noted by UK Minister for Trade Policy Chris Bryant, who emphasized that London continues to adhere to the current sanctions regime against Russia.
He called the UK’s sanctions against Russia “the toughest sanctions regime in the world.”
"I want to make it absolutely clear that our sanctions regime today is tougher than it was yesterday or last week. In fact, thanks to the 2026 regulations regarding Russia, starting today we will for the first time ban the import not only of uranium but also of Russian petroleum products refined in a third country. We are not lifting any existing sanctions," the minister emphasized.
Bryant noted that sanctions against Russia are being introduced gradually.
"Therefore, given the situation in the Middle East, we have issued a targeted temporary license to allow for the continued import of diesel fuel and jet fuel.
These licenses are temporary and targeted. We will review them regularly and repeatedly and suspend them as soon as possible. As a result of all the measures we have taken, there will be less Russian oil on the market, not more. Russia will become poorer," the minister explained.
