Budanov speculated on which country might be Putin's next target

Russia is already testing a hybrid approach in Latvia, and how the situation develops—and whether hostile actions escalate to a new level—will depend on the country’s readiness to counter threats and on the adoption of appropriate policy decisions.

According to Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Office of the President, Ukraine is actively exchanging information with the relevant Latvian agencies and organizations regarding the security situation. The official emphasized that an assessment of the country’s actual defense capabilities could directly influence the Kremlin’s decisions. If the Russians see that the country is prepared to counter or defend itself, they will have to revise their plans.

This was stated in Budanov’s interview with the Latvian television channel LTV.

Earlier, Kirill Budanov stated that Ukraine would intensify strikes on Russian territory if the Kremlin does not end the war. According to him, Russia “will feel the consequences firsthand.”

Following Russian strikes on the airports in Kyiv and Boryspil, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced adjustments to the operation targeting Russian airspace next week.

U.S. President’s special envoys Steve Witkopf and Jared Kushner arrived in Moscow. The American delegation is set to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding an end to Russia’s war against Ukraine.

On the morning of September 5, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced new strikes on Ukraine. This was reported after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed a ceasefire in the air for the duration of the visit by U.S. President Donald Trump’s representatives—Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

A Russian attack on Wednesday destroyed a warehouse containing Philips-branded household goods and caused significant damage to the warehouse infrastructure of the company’s logistics partner in Ukraine.
