Ghanaian MP calls for investigation into reports of drug transit
Member of Ghana’s Parliament for the Assin South constituency John Ntim Fordjour called on the government to urgently respond to what he described as an unprecedented drug-trafficking crisis. According to the MP, the situation could damage the country’s international reputation. He also demanded a full-scale investigation.
MP’s warning
In a social media post, Ntim Fordjour said Ghana risks becoming a “cocaine coast” if authorities do not respond to the growing number of large drug shipments reportedly linked to the country.
As MyJoyOnline reports, the MP questioned whether the government is directly facilitating drug transit or benefiting from the trade. He linked these assumptions to what he considers the authorities’ failure to take decisive action against those responsible.

Call for an investigation
Ntim Fordjour also asked why no government official had been dismissed over alleged failures. He called for an immediate investigation involving the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Transport, the Narcotics Control Commission, the Ghana Immigration Service, and the BNI.
According to the parliamentarian, Ghana’s international image must be protected.
