Pakistani court grants bail to suspect in TikToker’s murder case

An additional sessions court in Taxila, Pakistan, granted a bail application for one of the suspects in the murder case of TikToker Shamsu Bibi, also known as Ayesha Ghulamna, and ordered his release. According to Dawn, the man is a native of Haripur and the deceased woman’s father’s uncle.

The decision was made by Taxila additional sessions judge Muhammad Azam after considering the arguments of the defense, prosecution and case materials. The defense challenged the grounds cited by investigators and insisted on the suspect’s right to bail.

Bail decision

The court granted the post-arrest bail application. This decision concerns the suspect’s right to release on bail at this stage of the proceedings and does not constitute an acquittal or a finding on the merits of the murder charges.

According to police, Shamsu Bibi was shot dead in the Taxila area on August 14, 2026. Law enforcement officers believed that this suspect was involved in planning the murder.

Course of the investigation

Police registered a case under Sections 302, 324, 109, 201, 311 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The proceedings were initially opened against unidentified persons, with the deceased woman’s father listed as the complainant.

Police later reported the arrest of five suspects: the victim’s father, brother and cousin, her father’s uncle, and the son of her cousin. Investigators said they examined footage from more than 100 surveillance cameras and used other sources of information.

At the initial stage, police considered the possibility of an alleged so-called honor killing. These claims must be proven in court, and the suspects are presumed innocent until their guilt is established by a competent court.
