Ghanaian MP Sosu calls for probe into cocaine seizure in France — MyJoyOnline
Ghanaian Member of Parliament for Madina Francis-Xavier Kojo Sosu has called for a full investigation after French customs seized a shipment of cocaine that arrived from Ghana at the port of Dunkirk. The politician said the case could damage the country’s international reputation, MyJoyOnline reports.
Seizure in Dunkirk
On September 10, French customs officers intercepted nearly 3.9 tonnes of cocaine concealed in a container of plastic waste at the northern port of Dunkirk. The cargo was valued at approximately $260 million.
The container arrived from Ghana. According to France’s prosecutor’s office for combating organized crime, part of the shipment was intended to continue to Antwerp, Belgium.

The MP’s call
In a Facebook post on September 13, Sosu stressed the need to establish all the circumstances of the transportation. He said that Ghanaian citizens or organizations whose involvement is established should be held accountable.
The MP also noted the work of Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in representing Ghana on the international stage. In Sosu’s view, the country’s democratic reputation and diplomatic authority must not be undermined by the criminal activities of individual persons.
