Second Flydubai flight to Tel Aviv turns back mid-flight — Anadolu Agency

A second Flydubai flight of the day, FZ1081, traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv, turned back mid-flight on Wednesday. The reason for the route change is currently unknown.

According to Anadolu Agency, citing Israel’s Ynet, there are no indications that the incident involving FZ1081 was connected to the situation surrounding another Flydubai flight, FZ1073.

Emergency landing of FZ1073

Earlier the same day, flight FZ1073, which was also traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv, issued a distress signal and safely made an emergency landing at Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. The airport said that the captain and co-pilot were injured and taken to hospital.

Ynet reported conflicting accounts of the circumstances of the incident. Israel’s Channel 12 said the situation was likely not security-related, and authorities are checking whether the distress signal was activated accidentally following a dispute between the pilots.
