Egypt rejects forced displacement of Palestinians — Anadolu Agency

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, speaking at the UN General Assembly in New York, United States, called for an end to violations against Palestinians and rejected any attempts to forcibly displace the population from the Gaza Strip or the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem. This was reported by Anadolu Agency.

Calls regarding Gaza

Speaking at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, Madbouly said that the ceasefire in Gaza must be fully implemented. He also called for an end to violations by Israel and for the withdrawal to be completed.

The Egyptian prime minister stressed the need for sustained humanitarian access, the start of early recovery and reconstruction, as well as a political process that must address the root causes of the conflict. According to him, peace cannot be built by depriving a people of its land.

Palestinian state and regional security

Madbouly reaffirmed Cairo's support for an independent, sovereign and territorially contiguous Palestinian state along the lines of 4 June 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He called on the international community to protect civilians, reject collective punishment and ensure compliance with international humanitarian law.

Separately, the prime minister said that no state can guarantee its own security at the expense of its neighbors, through attacks on other countries or threats to maritime shipping, trade and energy routes. He called Egypt's water security a matter of existence and warned against unilateral actions concerning shared water resources.

Madbouly also reaffirmed support for Sudan's unity and its state institutions amid the conflict. He reiterated Egypt's demand for comprehensive reform of the UN Security Council to overcome Africa's underrepresentation and called for the establishment of a Middle East zone free of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction.
