New flight delays recorded in Dubai — The National
New delays for flights arriving at the city’s international airport were recorded in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, this week. As The National reports, Dubai International’s board showed late arrivals of aircraft from Central Asian countries.
Flights from Central Asia and Russia
On Tuesday, flydubai flights from Tashkent and Almaty arrived more than an hour late. A day earlier, the delay for the flight from Almaty was 52 minutes, while the flight from Tashkent was delayed by 64 minutes. Another flydubai aircraft from Dushanbe arrived at 9:07 instead of the scheduled 7:50.
On Monday, flydubai flights from Moscow and Yekaterinburg in the Russian Federation, an aggressor state, as well as from Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan, also landed late. An Emirates flight from London Heathrow Airport that was due to arrive in Dubai at 6:40 was rescheduled for 8:30.

Impact of airspace restrictions
Schedule adjustments are linked not only to the situation in the Middle East. In recent weeks, hundreds of flights from Russia have faced disruptions due to Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine. According to the publication, Ukrainian drone attacks on Moscow on September 19 delayed more than 400 flights and caused a number of diversions.
David Bentley, chief airport analyst at CAPA — Centre for Aviation, said that an escalation of attacks on Moscow could have affected the recent disruptions in the region. Elmar Giemulla, honorary professor of aviation law at the Technical University of Berlin, noted that aircraft may remain on the ground because of danger in Russian airspace caused by drones.
On Sunday, passengers on flights to the UAE also faced significant disruptions: some flights were cancelled, while more than 40 were delayed, many of them by over two hours. Passengers travelling to and from the UAE are advised to check their flight status with the airline before heading to the airport.
