EU experts have arrived in Ceuta due to the threat of a new influx of migrants

An EU expert group on migration has traveled to the Spanish city of Ceuta amid warnings of a possible new attempt at a mass influx of migrants on August 15.

The experts are on the ground to assess the situation and determine what additional support Spain needs to protect the EU’s external border and combat illegal migration.

The European Commission emphasized that the mission is not tied to a specific date, and its main goal is to strengthen border protection and ensure the effective return of irregular migrants.

EU representatives also plan to meet with social media platforms to coordinate efforts to combat disinformation related to the migration crisis in Ceuta.
