Former Xdinary Heroes member Gonil denied agreeing to terminate his contract with JYP
Gonil, the former drummer of the South Korean band Xdinary Heroes, has denied JYP Entertainment’s claim that the termination of his exclusive contract was mutually agreed upon. Through his attorney, the musician stated that he did not make the decision to leave the group and did not agree to terminate the contract, according to the Korea Herald.
Attorney Song Che-hwan of Joowon Law Firm stated that Gonil is seeking to resolve the situation through negotiations with JYP Entertainment. According to him, there are no grounds for terminating the contract, but the artist wishes to continue good-faith discussions with the agency so as not to cause fans additional distress.
On August 13, JYP Entertainment announced that Gonil would be leaving Xdinary Heroes and that his exclusive contract had been terminated by mutual agreement. The company stated at the time that it had held thorough discussions with the artist following a recent dispute and concluded that it would be difficult for him to continue as a member of the group. Xdinary Heroes will continue as a five-member group.

The dispute arose after a person who claimed to have been in a relationship with Gonil posted allegations online. She claimed that the musician had repeatedly spoken disparagingly about fans and expressed dissatisfaction with the band and the agency. Gonil’s lawyer stated that he had apologized to the fans and members of Xdinary Heroes for the situation and personally apologized to his colleagues.
The statement also acknowledged that during a private conversation, Gonil used inappropriate language, calling his remarks unjustified. At the same time, the artist’s representatives claim that this occurred during a period of significant emotional stress caused by malicious online posts and repeated violations of his privacy. The lawyer denied claims that Gonil systematically insulted fans or spoke negatively about other band members.
