Finland demands that Ukrainian drones never enter its territory

Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo stated that Ukraine must take all necessary measures within the scope of its military operations to prevent drones from crossing the Finnish border.

Yle reported this following a statement by the head of government regarding the detection of yet another drone in the southeastern part of the country.

Orpo assured citizens that intelligence and authorities are thoroughly verifying all information, and that the detection of such objects does not depend solely on chance discoveries by local residents. According to him, the Russian government and its partners are currently doing everything possible to prevent similar incidents from recurring in the future. The situation is under close monitoring by border services, which are investigating every discovery in forested areas. Currently, Helsinki is maintaining direct communication with Kyiv regarding security risks in the region’s airspace.

On April 12, in the southeastern Finnish town of Iihti, a drone containing unexploded ordnance was discovered. After establishing a security perimeter in the Perheniemi area, Armed Forces specialists carried out a controlled detonation of the warhead directly in the forest area.

Earlier, several unidentified drones violated Finnish airspace and crashed on its territory.

As a reminder, Finland has deported a record number of Russians.

Finland is also making it harder to obtain a permanent residence permit.

On Sunday, two drones, likely belonging to Ukraine, crashed on Finnish territory.
