Bashir El-Rufai publicly criticized his older brother

Bashir El-Rufai, the son of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, published insulting posts on social media directed at his older brother Bello El-Rufai. Bello is a member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives for the Kaduna North federal constituency.

As Premium Times Nigeria reports, Bashir accused his brother of alcohol and cocaine abuse, hypocrisy, and betrayal of the family. These claims are statements by Bashir El-Rufai.

Conflict surrounding the Kaduna governor

According to the publication, the dispute between the brothers is taking place against the backdrop of a political conflict between their father and the current governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani. Sani was previously a political protégé and key ally of Nasir El-Rufai.

More current news is available on the UA.News Telegram channel Telegram.

Tensions between the politicians intensified after Uba Sani said that his administration inherited debt obligations of $587 million and 85 billion naira, as well as 115 contractual obligations. According to him, this complicated the payment of salaries and the implementation of projects in the state.

The brothers’ different positions

Premium Times Nigeria writes that Bashir El-Rufai regularly criticized Sani’s administration online, calling it incompetent. Bello El-Rufai initially distanced himself from his brother’s actions and remained loyal to Sani, whom he called a political mentor.

In new posts, Bashir also stated that Bello supported the family again only after his position in relations with the governor deteriorated. He accused his brother of political opportunism and acting in his own interests.
