The Soros Foundation will allocate $300 million to defend democracy in the United States

The Open Society Foundations, founded by George Soros, will allocate $300 million over the next five years to support democratic institutions in the United States and strengthen Americans’ economic security.

This was reported by Euronews.

The decision was made amid the foundation’s confrontation with the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.

According to media reports, the U.S. Department of Justice had previously instructed federal prosecutors to prepare possible scenarios for an investigation into the activities of the Open Society Foundations. Specifically, the investigation focused on potential allegations of fraud, money laundering, racketeering, and alleged “material support for terrorism.”

The foundation called these accusations baseless and politically motivated, emphasizing that all of the organization’s activities are lawful.

The Open Society Foundations is one of the world’s largest private donors to human rights and democratic initiatives. The foundation’s total grant portfolio exceeds $32 billion.

American billionaire Elon Musk claimed that financier George Soros’s organization has effectively “seized” power in Hungary.

Donald Trump is actively waging a campaign against George Soros, the 95-year-old billionaire and founder of the Open Society Foundation, known for supporting human rights organizations and democratic initiatives. For Trump, who is seeking new tools for political mobilization, Soros has become a convenient symbol of the “liberal enemy.”
