France 24 featured the photos of the week: a solar eclipse, an earthquake in Colombia, and the West Bank
France 24 published a selection of the week’s most striking photographs. It included images of the total solar eclipse in Spain, search and rescue efforts following the earthquake in Colombia, and the destruction in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
On August 12 in Palencia, Spain, a photographer captured the moment of a total solar eclipse, when the Moon blocked the Sun. In Cali on August 10, residents and rescue workers searched through the rubble following an earthquake. As France 24 reports, the earthquake claimed at least 300 lives, and hundreds of people were reported missing.
On the West Bank, a Palestinian boy surveyed the ruins of nearly two dozen shops. According to the photo caption, Israeli bulldozers demolished them along the main road east of the Palestinian city of Jenin. France 24 also reported an escalation of violence by Israeli settlers, which the U.S. ambassador to Israel condemned, calling them acts of terror.
