France is preparing to provide millions in aid to farmers affected by the drought
France plans to unveil a package of support measures next week for farmers whose farms have suffered significant losses due to this summer’s drought. The aid will amount to at least several hundred million euros, which will be used to compensate farmers for their losses.
According to officials from the French ministry, Agriculture Minister Anne Genevieve will announce detailed information on the total amount of emergency aid on Thursday, September 3, following a meeting with prefects from across the country.
In addition, the government will also provide farmers with tax breaks and additional support to restore agricultural production.
Officials noted that this will include assistance with the purchase of feed, seeds, and seedlings to prevent structural losses in future agricultural seasons.
Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture reported this to journalists on Friday, August 28, according to Bloomberg.
