France will invest 20 billion euros in its space program by 2030
France will invest 20 billion euros in the space sector by 2030 and is calling for the accelerated development of European space capabilities to ensure the region’s autonomy.
French President Emmanuel Macron made this announcement during the International Space Summit in Paris.
According to the French leader, the country continues to increase investments under the France 2030 program, laws on scientific research, and military planning, and will allocate an additional 40 million euros to the space observation program. Macron emphasized the need to develop a joint system for managing space activities and called on Europe to significantly expand its ambitions in the field of crewed spaceflight. Specifically, the first European cargo capsule, Nyx, is expected to dock with the International Space Station in two years, the Argonaut lunar lander is set to land in five years, and the first crewed capsule carrying astronauts is scheduled to launch in ten years.
The International Space Summit in Paris is being attended by representatives from 90 countries, heads of space agencies, and approximately 1,100 industry companies and startups.
