CSA Director-General Agbeti urges executives to take responsibility for cyber risks — MyJoyOnline
Divine Selase Agbeti, Director-General of Ghana’s Cyber Security Authority (CSA), has called on boards of directors, company executives and senior managers in the country’s financial and digital sectors to take greater responsibility for cybersecurity. MyJoyOnline reports.
He spoke on October 1 during the 2026 National Cybersecurity Awareness Month at the University of Ghana. The event was held under the theme “Securing the Digital Finance Ecosystem.”
Cyber risks as management responsibility
According to Agbeti, cybersecurity should no longer remain an issue handled only by technology departments. He stressed that cyberattacks can affect organizations’ operations, systems and data, and therefore cyber risk should be treated as a business risk.

The CSA chief urged board members to assess how quickly their organizations can detect and contain an intrusion into their systems. He also suggested that management check whether companies can continue operating after a major systems outage and what access third parties have to critical systems and data.
Testing response plans
Agbeti stressed the need to test incident response plans in advance rather than determine team readiness only after an attack. In his view, the effectiveness of cyber defense is determined not only by the ability to prevent attacks, but also by the capacity to anticipate them, withstand the consequences, recover and maintain key operations.
He also stated that the CSA, together with law enforcement, intelligence, regulatory and international partners, will strengthen Ghana’s capabilities to detect, investigate and combat cybercrime. According to him, the cross-border nature of such crimes will not shield those involved from accountability.
