The head of Rostelecom said that Telegram is "dying"

Mikhail Oseevsky, head of the Russian company Rostelecom, claimed that there had been a sharp drop in traffic on the Telegram messaging app.

According to him, WhatsApp “practically doesn’t exist” in Russia, and Telegram is “dying right now,” while usage of the Max messaging app is growing rapidly.

Oseevsky also noted that following restrictions on voice calls via foreign services, the number of calls made over mobile networks has increased in the country.

In addition, he said, the number of requests to install landline phones has increased. He even advised returning to “home” communication, calling it a “guaranteed means of communication.”

As a reminder, Russianmilitary personnel have been banned from using Telegram for official purposes.

Recall whether it is possible to block Telegram in Ukraine and whether there is any point in doing so.

Telegram has also rolled out a major update with a range of new features for regular users and Premium subscribers.
