Greenlandic populists have been elected to the Danish Parliament for the first time

The Greenlandic populist party "Naleraq" ("Landmark") secured its first seat in parliament in Denmark's general election.

Reuters reports this.

"Naleraq"—a party advocating for independence from Denmark as soon as possible—received 24.6% of the vote, a sharp increase from the 12.2% it received in the 2022 election.

"This is a very clear signal that the status quo is unacceptable," Karsok Hoeg-Dam, who won Nalerak’s seat in parliament, told the agency.

He promised to work to ensure that Greenland is heard on all issues that concern it.

Hoeg-Dam, who received the highest number of personal votes in Greenland, stated that he firmly adheres to his party’s position on opposing military infrastructure in Greenlandic cities, arguing that defense facilities in civilian areas could turn them into targets.

Denmark’s unicameral parliament is elected for a four-year term. Danish lawmakers hold 175 seats, with two seats allocated to representatives of sparsely populated Greenland and the kingdom’s other semi-autonomous territory, the Faroe Islands.

Denmark was preparing for war with the U.S.: blood was being delivered to Greenland, and plans were made to blow up the airport runway.

We also reported that the U.S. authorized operations involving Russian oil on sanctioned tankers.

The Social Democrats are leading in Denmark’s snap election.
