Japan urges Nepal to find and rescue five missing Japanese citizens
Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi urged Nepalese authorities to make every possible effort to search for and rescue five Japanese citizens who went missing after sudden floods near the Nepal-China border.

The appeal was made during a telephone conversation between Motegi and his Nepalese counterpart Shisir Khanal on Monday, The Japan Times reports. Flooding in areas near the border with China occurred last week.
Khanal assured the Japanese minister that the Nepalese government would do everything possible to search for and rescue all those missing, including the five Japanese citizens. According to him, Nepal will work closely with the international community, including Japan.

Japan's assistance
Motegi also said that the Japanese government had decided to provide Nepal with blankets, tents and other relief supplies. Japan is also considering providing support through international organizations and dispatching a Japanese disaster relief team.
Shisir Khanal expressed gratitude to Japan for its support.
