Iran attacked U.S. bases in the Middle East
Tehran launched missile and drone strikes against U.S. targets in Jordan, Kuwait, Iraq, and Bahrain after the U.S. resumed military operations against Iran.
Iranian forces began attacking U.S. facilities after the U.S. resumed strikes on Iranian territory on Tuesday.
Earlier, the U.S. military announced strikes on two missile launchers which, according to Washington, were used to lay mines in the Strait of Hormuz.
Tehran viewed these actions as justification for new strikes against U.S. targets in the region.
According to the semi-official Iranian news agency Tasnim, by Wednesday morning, Iran had carried out a massive missile strike on a U.S. Marine Corps base in the Jordanian city of Aqaba.
The Jordanian Armed Forces stated that they intercepted 13 ballistic missiles. Of these, 10 were destroyed, and three more fell in remote areas.
According to preliminary reports, there were no casualties or injuries as a result of the attack.
The Kuwaiti Army reported that its air defense systems responded to Iranian missile attacks on Wednesday morning.
No details regarding the possible consequences of the strikes have been reported yet.
In addition, Iranian state media reported several explosions in Bahrain.
The Iranian state news agency IRNA reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps struck U.S. bases in the autonomous region of Kurdistan in Iraq.
According to Iranian officials, the attack destroyed a maintenance center, warehouses, and military equipment.
The Iranian Red Crescent stated that five people, including a child, were killed, and more than 50 others were injured after debris from an American missile struck a house where a wedding was taking place.
The incident occurred in the city of Sirik in southern Iran.
U.S. military officials said they were aware of these reports but emphasized that the U.S. never targets civilians.
After a hiatus of about a month, the U.S. resumed strikes against Iran earlier this week.
The U.S. stated that it had targeted facilities linked to the mining of the Strait of Hormuz.
In response, Tehran fired missiles at U.S. air bases in Jordan and, according to reports, sent a drone toward the United Arab Emirates.
