Iran has threatened the U.S. with retaliation following the strikes - CNN

Iran has stated that it reserves the right to respond to the United States following strikes on its facilities and incidents in the Strait of Hormuz, accusing Washington of violating the ceasefire. Tehran claims that the U.S. military actions were “defensive strikes,” but the IRGC calls them an act of aggression and warns of a response. CNN reports this, citing official statements from the Iranian side.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that its forces allegedly shot down an American MQ-9 Reaper drone and also opened fire on an F-35 fighter jet and another drone, which, according to them, violated Iran’s airspace. The timing of these events is not specified in the statement. “The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warns against any violation of the ceasefire by aggressive U.S. military forces and considers its right to respond to be legitimate and indisputable,” the IRGC statement reads.

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stated that the U.S. has violated the ceasefire in the Hormozgan region over the past 48 hours, specifically by allegedly pursuing Iranian merchant ships at sea.

Tehran emphasizes that any actions against the country will not go unanswered and underscores its readiness to defend its interests. “The Islamic Republic will not leave any act of aggression unanswered and will not hesitate to defend its people,” the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated.

Statements from both sides indicate yet another escalation between Iran and the U.S., with each side accusing the other of violating agreements and escalating tensions in this strategically vital region.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the key routes for global oil trade, so any incidents in this area immediately draw international attention and pose risks of further escalation.
