Ghalibaf also said that Washington had conveyed proposals for resolving the dispute through an intermediary. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the plan presented by Tehran in September, if approved, could lead to the opening of the Strait of Hormuz within seven days. At the same time, he noted that Iran's conditions include commitments from the United States and expressed hope for a diplomatic resolution of the situation.
Araghchi added that if the United States makes a new decision to resort to military action, Iran, according to him, is better prepared than before and will act as it deems necessary for its defense.
