Iran Accuses U.S. of Exerting Pressure During Negotiations – The Times of Israel

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi stated during a conversation with UN Secretary-General António Guterres that the United States is putting pressure on Tehran as part of the negotiation process. According to The Times of Israel, the Iranian diplomat criticized the U.S. side for “unreasonable demands” and an approach that Tehran described as an attempt to impose its own terms.

According to Arakchi, Iran continues to participate in the diplomatic process with the U.S., despite “repeated betrayals of diplomacy and military aggression against Iran.”

The Iranian foreign minister also accused Washington of contradictory positions and excessive demands. As the publication notes, negotiations between the parties have continued since the April 8 ceasefire.

Despite a series of contacts, including face-to-face meetings in Islamabad, the parties have not yet reached a final settlement. Full access to the Strait of Hormuz, through which significant volumes of global oil supplies pass, has also not yet been restored.

Earlier, Iran announced a new “control” zone in the Persian Gulf, which, according to its version, partially covers the waters of the United Arab Emirates. Abu Dhabi sharply rejected these claims, calling them unrealistic and provocative. Against this backdrop, tensions in the region have noticeably risen again.

Trump is willing to wait a few more days for Iran to provide the right answer.
