Ireland has begun phasing out its free housing program for Ukrainians
In Ireland, more than 2,300 Ukrainian refugees have already left the housing that the government had rented for them.
In total, more than 16,000 Ukrainians may lose their free housing.
The Irish government is gradually phasing out the placement of Ukrainians in hotels and other commercial facilities. The full process of winding down the program is set to begin in September and will proceed in stages through next year.
The government has also reduced payments to people who are hosting Ukrainians in their homes: from 600 to 400 euros per month.
Since the start of the full-scale war, Ireland has taken in more than 100,000 Ukrainians.

The European Commission plans to update and distribute guidelines to member states in the coming weeks regarding the application of the new temporary protection rules for Ukrainians. These rules took effect on August 5.
