Italy continues to provide aid to Ukraine, focusing on the supply of medical equipment. Specifically, this includes equipment for maternity wards.

This was stated by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni following a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to ANSA.

“I would like to proudly note that the Italian system helped the Ukrainian people cope with the emergencies of last winter. We promptly provided, as requested, industrial boilers and electric generators to deal with power outages and supply disruptions caused by Russian attacks. We are now focusing on sending medical equipment, particularly for maternity wards,” Meloni said.

She assured that Italy “will continue to provide comprehensive support to Ukraine.”

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for Italy’s energy support for Ukraine this winter.

"In the very first days of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Italy made a clear moral choice in favor of life, in favor of our defense. I am grateful for all the assistance Italy has provided to Ukraine and Ukrainians—political, security, economic, and humanitarian. Let’s not forget this winter; it was very difficult. Thank you, Giorgio, for the energy support. We thank you for your leadership, which helps us and Europe as a whole get through this time of crisis, and for your personal efforts to protect European interests," Zelenskyy said.

He also expressed gratitude for the dialogue established between the countries.

"I especially want to thank you for your respect for our state, for our independence, for our territorial integrity, and above all, for our people. Respect is just as important as security, in my opinion. When the people of a state are respected, when security is guaranteed, there can be truly dignified relations and a truly normal life," said the President.

Meloni responded to Trump’s criticism of her bold statements.

Trump spoke sharply about Meloni.

Additionally, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stated that it is currently premature to discuss the possibility of resuming imports of Russian gas.

Italy proposed including security guarantees for Kyiv in the peace plan for Ukraine, similar to Article 5 of the NATO Treaty.
