Israel selects two funds to invest in defense technologies — Jerusalem Post
In Israel, Adir Capital and Sling Capital won a tender to manage state-backed venture funds specializing in advanced defense technologies. This was reported by the Jerusalem Post, citing a joint statement by the country's Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
State support for defense startups
The results of the tender were announced by the general accountant division of Israel's Ministry of Finance and the MAFAT Directorate of Defense Research and Development. The tender committee expressed confidence that the funding managed by the winners would help achieve important results and contribute to the development of breakthrough capabilities for the defense sector and the Israeli economy.
Adir Capital is part of Idan Financial Instruments, while Sling Capital is part of Giza. Israel's Defense Ministry Director General, Reserve Major General Amir Baram, called the funds an important stage in implementing a strategy to transform Israel's ecosystem, which brings together the Defense Ministry, the Israel Defense Forces, the defense industry and local entrepreneurs, into a global leader in defense technologies.

Focus on research and industrial independence
According to Baram, after three years of war, Israel must increase investment in research and development in order to preserve the defense sector's qualitative strategic advantage and create next-generation technologies.
Accountant General Michal Abadi-Boiangiu said the decision reflects close cooperation between her division and the defense establishment. She emphasized strengthening Israel's technological and industrial independence, supporting local entrepreneurship and ensuring critical supply chains in normal times and in emergencies.
MAFAT head, Reserve Brigadier General Dr. Danny Gold, called the initiative a strategic step to strengthen the country's technological advantage. Deputy Accountant General and head of the finance division Gil Cohen described state guarantees as a tool for developing the defense technology sector.
