Israel ranks third globally in AI commercialization — Jerusalem Post

Israel ranked third in the world in the commercialization of artificial intelligence technologies, according to the government's annual economic report released ahead of Rosh Hashanah. This was reported by the Jerusalem Post. The document also placed the country among the world's top 10 leaders in AI development, research and practical implementation.

Investment in the technology sector

According to the report, in the first half of 2026, Israeli high-tech companies raised 53% more capital than in the same period of 2025. The TA-125 index of the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange rose by 35% over the past Jewish calendar year.

The shekel strengthened by 11% against the US dollar despite uncertainty related to the war. The government also reported that inflation fell from 2.5% in 2025 to 1.5% in 2026. The budget deficit, according to the latest figures cited in the report, stood at 3.3%, compared with a target level of 4.9%.

GDP and labor market

Israel's nominal gross domestic product per capita is projected by the government to reach $70,000. At the same time, purchasing power per person remains $4,000 below the average level in countries of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. The report explained this by somewhat higher prices in Israel compared with the OECD average.

The country's economy grew by 3.2% in the first half of 2026 compared with the second half of 2025. The unemployment rate was 3.3%, while the share of employed people among the population aged 15 to 64 was 71%. By comparison, this figure is 74% in OECD countries.
