Israel advanced 153 settlement construction plans in the West Bank
In the occupied West Bank in Palestine, including East Jerusalem, Israeli authorities have advanced 153 settlement construction plans since the beginning of 2026. They provide for the construction of more than 18,000 housing units, Anadolu Agency reports, citing the Palestinian Commission of Colonization and Wall Resistance.
Plans in the West Bank and East Jerusalem
According to the commission, from the beginning of the year through September 13, Israeli authorities advanced 100 plans providing for the construction of 12,300 housing units in the West Bank. Another 53 plans concern 5,783 housing units in occupied East Jerusalem, within the boundaries established by the Israeli municipality.
In September alone, Israeli authorities advanced 12 new plans for 2,340 housing units. They cover a total area of 1,761 dunams.

The commission said its monitoring showed a high level of planning activity aimed at expanding settlements. In a previous report, the body stated that Israeli planning authorities had examined 524 settlement outline plans between October 7, 2023, and June 30, 2026.
The government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which came to power at the end of 2022, has since approved the establishment of 104 new settlements, Anadolu Agency notes. Israel has occupied the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, since 1967; settlements in occupied Palestinian lands are considered illegal under international law.
