Israel will begin flights on Friday, October 2, to return passengers stranded in the United Arab Emirates. Commercial air service between Israel and the UAE was suspended after an incident on a flydubai flight bound for Tel Aviv.

As The Hindu reports, the decision on repatriation flights was made after an incident aboard a flydubai aircraft this week. According to the publication, the co-pilot attacked the captain and attempted to crash the aircraft flying to Tel Aviv.

Incident on the flydubai flight

The aircraft operating the flight from the UAE to Israel transmitted an emergency signal and was diverted to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. Reuters footage released after the incident at Tabuk airport shows passengers from the aircraft.

The authorities of Israel, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and other countries are dealing with the consequences of the incident, which occurred on Wednesday. The event also raised questions about the state of aviation security and heightened tensions in the Middle East, which, according to the publication, has already been destabilized by the war between the United States and Iran.
