Israel announced the resumption of visa-free travel with Colombia effective September 1
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that, effective September 1, 2026, the reciprocal visa-free regime for citizens of Israel and Colombia is set to resume. This was reported by The Rio Times.
According to the publication, the agreement was reached by Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar and Colombian Foreign Minister Omar Bula Escobar. It provides for the elimination of visa requirements for Colombians traveling to Israel and Israelis traveling to Colombia.
As of August 20, the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs had not issued its own statement or decree regarding this decision. Until September 1, the previous visa requirements remain in effect for travel between the two countries.

The reciprocal visa-free regime was in effect until July 2025, when it was abolished. Under the previous rules, Colombian citizens could stay in Israel for up to 90 days, while Israeli citizens could stay in Colombia for a total of up to 180 days within a 365-day period. New conditions regarding the duration of visa-free stays and the list of passport types covered by the agreement have not yet been announced.
In May 2024, Colombian President Gustavo Petro severed diplomatic relations with Israel due to the war in Gaza. According to The Rio Times, Colombia’s new administration restored relations with Israel after President Abelardo de la Esprielia took office on August 7, 2026.
