Israel has stated that it will maintain a "security zone" in Lebanon

Israel has stated that it will maintain a "security zone" in Lebanon

Israel will maintain control over the so-called “security zone” in southern Lebanon, extending to the Litani River, until the threat posed by Hezbollah is eliminated.

This was stated by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, according to The Times of Israel.

According to him, the Israel Defense Forces will continue full-scale operations against the group in Lebanon. At the same time, hundreds of thousands of residents of southern Lebanon who have been evacuated will not be allowed to return home until security is ensured in northern Israel.

Katz also noted that the bridges across the Litani River, which were used to move militants and weapons, have been destroyed, and the remaining crossings and the “security zone” itself will remain under Israeli military control.

Against this backdrop, the Israeli Air Force continues to strike Hezbollah targets. According to the IDF, since March 2, the group has been firing about 150 rockets daily, most of which are aimed at Israeli forces in southern Lebanon and along the border.

The Israeli military claims to have already struck over 2,000 targets, including command centers, weapons depots, and rocket launchers. At the same time, according to their assessment, Hezbollah still possesses significant stockpiles of rockets of various ranges and is carrying out attacks primarily from deep within southern Lebanon.
