Israeli strikes on Kfar Roummane in Lebanon kill 13 people
At least 13 people, including six children, were killed in Israeli strikes in Kfar Roummane, Lebanon. Lebanon’s Health Ministry said that 12 people, including six children and three women, were killed in a strike on a residential building. Another medic was killed in a separate drone strike on a civilian vehicle.
As Cyprus Mail reports, citing Reuters, state media had earlier said that the strike on the residential building occurred after midnight. A relative of at least three of those killed said the attack happened as children were getting ready for school. Rescuers spent the morning clearing rubble with heavy machinery and recovering bodies. Reuters journalists saw school textbooks among the concrete debris.
Strike on a residential building
According to local residents, eight-year-old Mustafa Farhat lost his mother, grandmother and grandfather. The boy was in hospital with injuries, while rescuers continued searching for his father under the rubble on Monday morning. Mona Farhat, a relative of those killed, said that the targeted building was their home.

The Israeli military said it had struck people whom it said were spotted moving weapons in the Kfar Roummane area. It also said it had taken measures to reduce harm to uninvolved people, including the use of precision-guided munitions and aerial surveillance. The military added that it was reviewing reports of casualties among uninvolved people. The Israeli army did not issue evacuation warnings before the strikes in Kfar Roummane.
Escalation in southern Lebanon
Israel said that overnight, Hezbollah launched two explosive drones toward Israeli military personnel near the Ali al-Taher ridge in southeastern Lebanon. The Israeli army said last week that it had driven the group’s fighters from there. Hezbollah did not comment on this, and Reuters was unable to independently verify the situation in the ridge area.
According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, at least 11 people were killed on Sunday in Israeli strikes on three localities near Ali al-Taher. The ministry also reported the destruction of Ghandour Hospital in Nabatieh el-Fawqa. The number of strikes has increased despite a ceasefire that was meant to end fighting between the Israeli military and Hezbollah in June.
