Khmara discussed cooperation on defense projects with his colleagues from Sweden and Norway

Yevhen Khmara, Ukraine’s Acting Minister of Defense, held talks with the heads of the defense ministries of Sweden, Paul Jonsson, and Norway, Tore Sandvik.

Key topics included funding for the production of Ukrainian drones (particularly reconnaissance and medium-range strike drones), as well as the supply of interceptor missiles to defend against ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and “Shahed” drones.

During the meeting, the parties discussed long-term initiatives, including the development of the European anti-ballistic missile project FREYJA. With the Swedish minister, Khmara agreed on steps to develop aviation capabilities (including support for Gripen aircraft) and cooperation within the Electronic Warfare Coalition. With his Norwegian counterpart, the focus was on joint industrial projects and strengthening the air defense system.

On August 6, Yevhen Khmara, Acting Minister of Defense of Ukraine, met with British Defense Minister Wes Stritting, during which the parties discussed the situation on the front lines, Ukraine’s needs, and further defense cooperation.

It should be noted that the meeting between UK Defense Minister Wes Streeting and the Ukrainian delegation took place without the participation of Ukraine’s Ambassador to the UK, Valeriy Zaluzhny. The parties have offered different explanations for his absence.
